As a general rule, an NBA team doesn’t like to trade their best player.
Why would they? This league is built on star power. The best player on your team is often the strongest indicator of your team’s success.
Sometimes, a team’s hand is forced. Perhaps a player is soon to hit free agency, and a team isn’t confident that they’ll retain him. Alternatively, a player may simple request a trade.
Jaylen Brown of the Boston Celtics will be hitting free agency soon. With that in mind, he’s a trade candidate this summer.
Meanwhile, some have speculated that Joel Embiid of the Philadelphia 76ers could request a trade if his team doesn’t have a strong finish in 2022-23.
Could they be traded for each other this summer?
