Pilau is one of those meals that sound expensive and complicated but when it comes down to it, it’s super cheap and affordable. Lets do some quick math. 2-3 cups of rice ( Kshs. 60 $ 0.5) , 2 large onions (Kshs. 30 $ 0.2), Ginger & Garlic (Kshs. 20 $ 0.1), 250 grams of chicken or beef ( Kshs. 200 $1.5), 3 potatoes (Kshs. 30 $ 0.2) Pilau masala (Kshs. 50 $ 0.4) bringing it to the grand total of Kshs. 380 ($ 3) . This is actually enough to feed 2 grown adults with leftovers!
