To achieve the perfect sweetness and creaminess, we will be using sweetened condensed milk.
What is Sweetened condensed milk?
Sweetened condensed milk is simply milk that has been sweetened with either sugar, honey or alternative sweeteners, and heated over low heat until it is reduced to a thick creamy sauce.
It is usually a light gold or amber color, sometimes flavored with vanilla. It tastes a lot like a milky fudge or caramel.
What is it used for and where can I get it in Kenya?
You can use sweetened condensed milk to sweeten coffee, tea, lemonades, juices and milk shakes. Additionally, you can also add it to fruit salads, homemade ice-cream, the famous tres leches cake, pies and a whole array of sweet desserts.
I have seen sweetened condensed milk in most of the well stocked supermarkets in Kenya at 250 per can. However, if you have no access to this, I gatchu!
