Berlin (dpa) – The German government has launched a new platform to strengthen commitment to the reconstruction of Ukraine. The goal is to better interconnect state and private or regional organisations and initiatives. The platform is also intended to serve as a contact point for anyone wishing to involve themselves in the reconstruction process. The platform includes the website www.ukraine-wiederaufbauen.de, which provides information about services and funding possibilities offered by the German government and is intended for companies, municipalities, science and civil society organisations.
“The reconstruction of Ukraine is already beginning now, even though unfortunately no end to the war is in sight,” explained Development Minister Svenja Schulze. She said that providing this long-term prospect and planning at an early stage are “important for the resilience of the Ukrainian society in the here and now,” but also “for the successful and efficient reconstruction of a free and European Ukraine”. She described this as a mammoth task that governments alone will not be able to shoulder. “Entire societies will be needed here,” stressed Schulze.
