An NBA head coaching job is a dream gig for whoever acquires one. That doesn’t mean it’s a secure job.
In fact, even winning an NBA title doesn’t secure your position long-term. This summer, we’ve seen two head coaches let go who’d only recently led their teams to the promised land.
One of those head coaches was Mike Budenholzer. It’s hard to believe it. Coach Bud is a bright basketball mind, and he proved his acumen by coaching the Bucks to the 2020-21 NBA championship.
Still, the Bucks underperformed this season. A first-round exit led them to fire Budenholzer.
With that said, they’ll need to make more changes if they hope to accomplish their goals next season.
