What could be better than two best actress winners cold-reading a frosty scene? May December stars Natalie Portman and Julianne Moore appeared on Watch What Happens Live! and lit up the Bravo clubhouse, recreating Lisa Barlow and Monica Garicia‘s sound bath fight from Real Housewives of Salt Lake City.

The two Oscar winners showcased their immense talents on Monday’s episode of the late night talk show hosted by Andy Cohen. In the segment called “Clubhouse Playhouse,” Portman and Moore were tasked with cold-reading a scene from a recent episode of Real Housewives of Salt Lake City in which tequila-shilling housewife Lisa Barlow and newbie Monica Garcia go toe-to-toe during Whitney Rose‘s sound bath event. Ever game, Portman and Moore stood in front of a green screen and launched into the scene with gusto, with Portman portraying Barlow and Moore Garcia.
Having sparred in Todd Haynes‘s dark comedy as Elizabeth (Portman), an actress preparing to play Gracie (Moore), a Mary Kay Letourneau-esque tabloid fixture, in a feature film, Portman and Moore were able to easily drop into the combative spirit of the scene. “Based on my assessment, you do not treat your mother nicely. You do not ,Monica,” spat out Portman, as Barlow. Moore as Garcia leaned into the liquidity of her scene partner’s name, before hurling back some insults of her own. “Lisa! You’re like a little tramp stamp, you beg for attention everywhere you go,” she said, channeling Garcia’s rage. “If this is what mediocre looks like, I am so happy being mediocre,” shot back Portman. The only thing missing from the scene was Portman and Moore’s May December co-star Charles Melton making a guest appearance as Angie K‘s husband.
Both actors acquitted themselves well, with Cohen remarking that their performances elevated the material. “I have to say, the text was better than I thought on that,” he said, to which Moore replied “It was pretty strong.” RHOSLC super fans will notice that Portman took a page out of Elizabeth’s playbook and wore a hot pink pantsuit that was remarkably similar to the pantsuit Barlow recently wore to WWHL! A true actress always prepares.
Elsewhere in the episode, fans asked Portman if anyone has reached out about her potentially rejoining the Star Wars franchise as Padmé Amidala now that her former love interest Hayden Christensen was reportedly reprising his role as Anakin Skywalker. “No one has asked me, but I’m open to it,” she said. Then Cohen somewhat randomly asked Portman if she remembered her interaction with the royal family at the Phantom Menace premiere in 1999, leading Portman to share that King Charles III, then Prince Charles, hilariously asked her if she appeared in the original Star Wars franchise—which came out between 1977 and 1983. Portman, who was born in 1981, had to break the news to the future king that she did not. “I was like ‘No,’” she said, laughing. “I’m 18.” Maybe King Charles is more of a Star Trek fan.
