Sydney NYE first has crowd enthralled

The 9pm Sydney fireworks show may have been family friendly but it was no less exciting for the early hour.

It was the first taste of a new addition for this year, bespoke soundtracks created specifically for each show.

The Calling Country display was produced by Indigenous artists and described as a celebration of sky, land and sea country.

Rapper and Triple J radio host Nooky and Aria Award winner and Grammy nominee Vincent Goodyer, also known as 18yoman, looked after the driving soundtrack.

Bridge pylons lit up with First Nations symbols and tributes to Indigenous legends such as Eddie Mabo, Archie Roach, Ruby Hunter, Adam Goodes and Anita Heiss.

“We are warriors. We are fearless,” one of the said.
