Los Angeles (dpa) – German actress Sandra Hüller has been named best actress of 2023 by the National Society of Film Critics (NSFC) in the USA. The most important film critics in the USA are members of the NSFC. Hüller was voted best actress for her roles in “Anatomy of a Fall” and “The Zone of Interest”. This put her ahead of Emma Stone (“Poor Things”) and Lily Gladstone (“Killers of the Flower Moon”).
The award for best director went to British director Jonathan Glazer for “The Zone of Interest”. In it, Hüller plays the wife of concentration camp commandant Rudolf Höss (Christian Friedel), who lived with his family in a luxurious house directly next to Auschwitz concentration camp. Hüller is also in the running for the Golden Globes that will be awarded in Beverly Hills on Sunday evening (local time).
