The 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) gets underway this evening when hosts Ivory Coast face Guinea-Bissau at the Olympic Stadium of Ebimpé.
Prior to tonight’s match, the tournament’s opening ceremony will take place at 20:00 (SAST).
The 1992 champions, Ivory Coast will be looking to get the tournament off on a positive note by picking up a full three points.

Tonight’s AFCON clash between Ivory Coast and Guinea-Bissau gets underway at 22:00. The tournament’s opening ceremony will take place two hours before kickoff at 20:00.
The match and opening ceremony will both be televised live on SABC1 and SuperSport PSL.

“I am satisfied the appropriate steps have been taken to make sure we will totally avoid the painful AFCON experience we had in Cameroon,” – CAF president Patrice Motsepe told SuperSport.
“For as long as I am president, whether I know or don’t know, whether I am aware or not aware, I ultimately have to take responsibility for anything that happens.
“I am satisfied that there is a huge amount of determination and commitment and I think we are on the right track. The Cameroon AFCON accident was absolutely avoidable.”
