Sky News host Peta Credlin has weighed in on the debate around stage three tax cuts, saying the issue is not who most deserves cost of living relief but whether the government “can be trusted”.
“Whether the Prime Minister can be trusted given this is his call as leader, and it’s his character that’s on the line,” Ms Credlin said.
“Before winning the last election, Anthony Albanese and Jim Chalmers reiterated some 100 times that the stage three tax cuts were safe … these tax cuts were supported by both sides of parliament through two elections.”
She said both the Prime Minister and the Treasurer – as Opposition MPs – voted for them in the parliament.
“But now, the people who’ve had to wait the longest for what was promised to them, will reportedly get less – and the people who’ve already got their tax cuts, will get more.
“It will be yet another broken promise from a Prime Minister who’s starting to seem incapable of being straight with voters.”
