Professor Peter Beale lost money in what was previously described as the country’s biggest Ponzi scheme run by Barry Tannenbaum, the Gauteng High Court in Johannesburg heard on Thursday.
Beale was allegedly among the more than 880 people, including some of the country’s wealthiest investors, to lose money in Tannenbaum’s scheme that saw more than R10 billion of investors’ money vanish.
He is facing three charges of murder and two of fraud, related to the deaths of three children who died allegedly from complications because of procedures he had performed on them.
