1. Seville
February’s the month of love. So, it only makes sense that I start this list with Seville—one of the most romantic places in Spain.
It’s dubbed the “Heart of Andalusia” for all good reasons!
It is home to iconic landmarks like the architectural wonders Real Alcázar and Plaza de España and offers amazing activities like guided walking tours and food tours operating daily!
In February, its weather is also perfectly mild, averaging 61°F.
This makes it perfect for visiting gardens and taking tours without feeling all sweaty. It’s also warm enough to get creative with layers in your outfits!
Hands down, Seville is really one of the most beautiful places in Spain.
So, whenever someone asks me where to go in Spain in February, best believe that I’ll always mention this city as one of my top recommendations!
2. Cádiz
For me, traveling to Spain in February is never complete without a quick stop at the city of Cádiz.
Sounds familiar? Well, that’s because this city is the home to Carnaval de Cádiz, one of the most iconic festivals in Spain!
The city transforms into a colorful wonderland in February.
There are parades, nonstop singing and dancing, and even costume competitions! The last time I attended, I dressed up as a flamenco dancer!
Besides the crazy-good carnival, Cádiz also boasts highlights such as Playa La Caleta (perfect for sunbathing) and the Cádiz Cathedral.
Visiting Cádiz is always one of the best things to do in Spain in February. It’s also easy to go around the city on a sightseeing hop-on hop-off bus.
Don’t miss out! Book accommodations early to avoid peak prices.
3. Granada
If you love traveling to places that immerse you in history, Granada is unarguably one of the best places for winter holidays in Spain.
It’s home to Alhambra, the majestic palace filled with stunning gardens, and the Albaicín District, where you’ll find locals strolling through whitewashed houses and streets that wind through the hills.
Not to mention, you’ll be less than an hour away from the Sierra Nevada resort. In February, this resort becomes a haven for winter sports like snowshoeing.
It’s pretty cool how Granada easily lets you dip in and out of the winter snow. I find it to be the perfect middle ground between city-centered activities and nature-filled adventures.
4. Barcelona
Still wondering where to visit in Spain in February? Well, let me introduce the beauty of Barcelona, where I enjoyed some of my favorite city breaks in Spain.
Surely, if you’ve read just a little about Spain, you’ve heard about this city before.
Apart from being the second-largest city in Spain, it’s home to some of Gaudi’s best works, it hosts lots of events, and the food scene is insanely good!
This is where you’ll find Gaudi’s unfinished masterpiece—Sagrada Familia, one of the most famous buildings in Barcelona and pretty much the whole world.
While in the city, make sure to drop by Park Güell, a whimsical park-like creation also designed by the same architect.
Take at least several hours (or even a day) to roam through the medieval streets of the Gothic Quarter.
While you’re there, visit a café called Granja Dulcinea and stop by La Plata for an authentic Barcelona tapas experience!
Barcelona’s tourism high season starts in March, so February’s the perfect time to avoid the crowd! Cheers to having less competition when booking hop-on, hop-off bus tours!
5. Valencia
Welcome to Valencia, the City of Arts and Paella!
Here, beach life blends with historical exploration, nature, and, of course, food.
There’s so much to do, but with the right planning, you’ll feel like you’ve done them all during your stay! Whether you’ll spend weeks or just 3 days in Valencia, Spain.
Since this is the birthplace of paella, the first must-never-miss activity is enjoying authentic paella.
It’s the perfect dish to warm up your February, especially if you dine at iconic spots like Casa Carmela!
Afternoons are definitely a good time to visit the City of Arts and Sciences, an architectural wonder locally known as one of Spain’s 12 treasures.
The Valencia Cathedral, rumored to be the home of the Holy Grail, is also a must-visit landmark. I recommend climbing up the tower for an extraordinary panoramic city view!
Special mentions go to the Albufera Natural Park, the Turia Gardens, and the always-stunning Malvarrosa Beach as top spots as well!
To not overwhelm yourself, you can always just join Valencia’s sightseeing tours which are the things to do in Spain in February!
Note: Temperatures can reach as high as 20°C (68°F)even in February! So, say goodbye to thick coats and hello to more stylish travel OOTDs and activities.
It’s still too cold to swim at the beaches, so maybe hold off on packing swimsuits.
6. Tenerife (Canary Islands)
February is part of winter, but it never feels like winter in Tenerife. The Island of Eternal Spring and the largest of the Canary Islands!
Especially during February, when the Carnaval de Santa Cruz is held! This carnival party is second only to Rio de Janeiro. I’m sure you know the level of excitement to expect!
Apart from the carnival, Tenerife still has so much to offer!
Visit La Laguna and Puerto de la Cruz on the North side to enjoy some authentic cultural experience.
Then, chill at Costa Adeje or Playa de las Américas in the south to soak up the sun!
Even in winter, the beaches are so inviting that swimming is manageable if you don’t mind cold dips!
Don’t forget to explore Mount Teide National Park, home to the highest peak in Spain. It’s perfect for hiking, sightseeing, and cable car riding! The snow-capped creates picture-perfect shots.
Wondering where to stay in Tenerife in February or where to stay in Spain in general?
If you’re looking for fun, I recommend the Green Garden Eco Resort & Villas. The Park Club Europe is also an amazing all-inclusive option!
These resorts are usually the cheapest in winter. Plus, you’ll have cheaper flights to the Canary Islands in February. Your trip won’t set you back as much as expected!
7. Córdoba
Córdoba is one of the most historic and culturally rich places to visit in Spain in February.
It’s way less crowded than Seville or Granada. But trust me, this city is just as captivating.
If you’re a history buff or a flower enthusiast, it may even be the most unique on this list!
My favorite part of Córdoba is its iconic patios, or courtyards, adorned with beautiful flowers!
They won’t be in full bloom yet, but the last time we visited in February, there were definitely a few early blooms!
Make sure also to visit the Mezquita, Roman Bridge, and Jewish Quarter. The top monuments of the Muslim, Christian, and Jewish cultures throughout the city, in respective order.
The beauty of these sites explains why Córdoba is known as the City of Three Cultures. The trio is easily one of the best places to go in Spain in February.
Visit them on your own, or better yet, on guided tours so you can blend enjoyment with education!
8. Málaga
When planning where to go in Spain in February, you can never go wrong with adding Málaga to your list.
This city is the birthplace of Pablo Picasso. And it gives off the vibe of a creative haven that can inspire you to create art!
The locals here always exude the “fiesta” spirit! They enjoy life, coffee, and beach relaxation!
When I visited Málaga, I embodied this way of life and stopped wondering in detail what to do in Spain in February, especially since the weather (up to 18°C or 64 °F) was perfect for sightseeing!
I woke up early every day and visited iconic landmarks like the Alcazaba, the Roman Theatre, which dates back to the 1st century BC, and, of course, the Picasso Museum.
I joined countless guided tours, too, with the tapas tours being my favorite.
Was my vacation here expensive? Not at all!
Málaga accommodations in February are some of the cheapest prices. Yes—even if you book beautiful spots like the Parador de Málaga Gibralfaro!
9. Sitges
When I stayed in Sitges last February, I only spent two days there, but that visit was enough to make the trip memorable.
I guess you could say, though, that I’m just a sucker for Carnivals.
After all, Sitges celebrates the iconic Sitges Carnival in February (sometimes up to March)!
Expect extravagant parades, colorful costumes, dancing, and dazzling feathers everywhere!
The carnival lasts for a week, so make sure you have enough outfits to match the energy and vibrance of the celebration!
But make sure not to spend all your time enjoying just the festivities.
Spend some days exploring the Old Town, visiting museums, and checking out the Passeig Marítim seafront promenade.
Moreover, the spas here are also top-notch (based on experience), so if you want to relax after a long day, you can book one!
10. Picos de Europa National Park
For adrenaline-seekers like me, the Picos de Europa National Park is easily one of the best vacation spots in Spain.
Think of this mountain setting as an untamed paradise filled with cliffs, lakes, and other raw nature.
In the winter, including February, the scenery transforms into snow-capped mountains, misty valleys, and frozen rivers—a landscape straight from a movie.
You can ski over at Alto Campoo, hike the Ruta del Cares, and, if weather permits, check out the park’s stunning caving systems.
Will there be food? Yup. A better culinary selection than you can imagine!
They’ve got breaded beef, Cabrales cheese, and lots of hearty meals perfect for cold days. This region has some of the most winter-like weather in Spain in February.
Speaking of the cold, pack winter gear, including boots with good traction to help you navigate snow and ice.
If you’re worried about safety or just want to make the most out of your stay, I highly recommend taking this guided Picos de Europa National Park tour as we did.
11. Zaragoza
Zaragoza is one of the most underrated places to visit in Northern Spain, especially if you want to enjoy winter in Spain without the freezing temperatures.
The city’s name might not ring a bell yet, but it’s proudly home to the Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar, one of the most iconic religious landmarks in Spain!
This stunning basilica’s origins date back to the 1st century AD, and it’s said to be the first church in history dedicated to the Virgin Mary. How cool is that?
You can also check out places like the Aljafería Palace and the Goya Museum to further immerse yourself in the feeling of stepping back in time.
There is little to no crowd, thanks to February’s off-season magic!
And let’s not forget Zaragoza’s food!
February is the perfect month to savor hearty regional dishes like migas (fried breadcrumbs with chorizo and garlic) and stews made with local lamb.
The best way to enjoy both activities and food is to join guided Zaragoza tours, especially tapas tours and market tours. So, I highly recommend that you book at least one tour during your stay!
12. Ronda
Ronda is one of my favorite off-the-beaten-path Spain attractions. It is one of those towns that you never forget, even if you’ve just visited it once.
Ronda’s jaw-dropping landscapes are some of the most famous landmarks in Spain.
The Puente Nuevo spans a deep gorge, and Plaza de Toros (bullfighting arena) are enough to draw anyone to visit this remarkable city!
When you’re not busy exploring these iconic landmarks, stroll through neighborhoods like the Old Town. It’s the best place to go in Spain in February if you just want to stroll.
I could spend hours here alone, happily visiting the quaint shops, restaurants, and cafes (which are always lively and entertaining!)
I think it’s best to spend at least a night in Ronda. Considering that there are dozens of tours around town you can find online.
But if an overnight stay isn’t possible, you can still enjoy a day trip from Granada or Seville! It’s one of the most unique places to visit in Spain.
