A fresh face has taken the reins in the Vatican, as a new Pope
has been elected.
From the heart of the Vatican, a plume of white smoke ascends
like a celestial beacon, heralding the dawn of a new Pope for the
faithful.
When the white smoke rises, it’s a sure sign that the cardinals
have finally seen eye to eye and struck a deal. Before this, black
smoke was spotted on two occasions, signaling that the search for a
new pontiff was still up in the air.
In the wake of Pope Francis’s passing, four cardinal stars
emerged, vying for the celestial throne of the papacy.
Among the prominent figures in the arena was Archbishop Luis
Antonio Tagle, hailing from the vibrant archipelago of Manila,
Philippines. Had the winds of fate shifted in his favor, he would
have donned the papal robes as the first Asian Pope in the annals
of time, perhaps ushering in a new dawn of liberal ideals,
according to journalists.
Other candidates came up, including Vatican Secretary of State
Pietro Parolin, who has been working on his diplomatic efforts to
sort out international conflicts; Archbishop Péter Erdő from
Esztergom-Budapest, Hungary; and Peter Turkson, the former bishop
of Cape Coast, who could have stepped into the role of the first
Black pope in history.
