A bit late with this one, unfortunately. The mouse turned up after I went away on holiday, but it was nice to come back to a gaming mouse to take a look at. RAWM sent this one through, and it’s called the SH-01 Pro. Let’s check it out.
In the box, you can find the mouse itself, which is incredibly lightweight. You’ve got some instructions, some grip tape, a USB Type-C cable to plug it into your PC to use and charge, and a 1K dongle. They can also supply separately an 8K polling rate dongle, which for some reason, is an additional £4 on the RAWM Shop website. Now I’m not overly keen on this idea, I mean I understand, they want to keep up with the latest 8K polling trend, which everyone is doing now, and yes, I’m of course being a bit facetious here. But, I suppose if you didn’t need 8K polling rate, which I’d absolutely argue that most people out there don’t, then save yourself the £4. But, it is also £4, why wouldn’t you spend that to get the latest and greatest? Though what is slightly awkward is the fact that you have to plug in the 8K dongle into your PC with the supplied USB Type-C cable that comes with the mouse, and then find a second USB Type-C cable to plug the mouse into the PC separately, to get the two devices to talk to eachother using the driver. A bit finicky, and I know that USB Type-C cables are pretty common in today’s households, but if you haven’t got a space Type-C cable, it’ll be an additional cost again on top of the already additional cost for the 8K dongle. So yeah, not really ideal, as other gaming mice I’ve tried already in the past, wireless I might add, worked straight from the box. Looking at you Attack Shark. The RAWM SH-01 is a pretty small, lightweight offering that RAWM claim sits at around 55g±2g grams. Weighing it though I got 56 grams, while it still falls within the range RAWM are claiming, it’s not the lightest that RAWM is claiming. It’s got six buttons with a left and right click, a middle mouse click, a scroll wheel which actually feels quite nice and accurate inside of games and has a solid incremental scrolling and two side buttons for your thumb. Underneath is a power toggle, a connectivity toggle being Bluetooth or 2.4GHz, and a DPI switch. You can find two large skates at the front and back which are decent enough especially if you’re using it with some kind of mouse pad as the mouse really does glide along smoothly, and a small rim around the 3395 sensor, which feels nice and accurate too. The mouse uses HUANO Green and White Dot switches, which are hot-swappable, but the issue here is that you have to bin off the skates on the bottom of the mouse to get to the screw to get inside of the mouse to change the switches. So not only are you changing your switches, you’ll also need to replace the skates too, which I think is a little bit counterintuitive, though you do get some spare skates in the box. The included switches are a nice feeling, have a nice clicky texture and good actuation. The mouse is covered what’s called Ice Coating, but more on that in a moment, and overall its size is pretty small, so expect to adopt some kind of claw-ish grip here.
Inside of the RAWM App, everything is laid out over four menus so there’s no real way of getting lost. Menu one is for your DPI settings and polling rates, and menu 2 is to change button functions. Menu three is your RGB settings of which there isn’t any. It’s to do with the small indicator light at the front of the mouse, and finally menu four is for your real gaming settings which being completely honest during my testing I didn’t really mess with. I’m no pro CS2 player, and I can barely survive against bots sometimes. The Wireless Turbo setting does have an optimization button which I clicked and it gave me Mode 1. Ther’s also an online driver too if you didn’t want to install anything on your desktop which is nice, and it also means that the mouse has some onboard memory to remember your settings incase you take it with you to a LAN event or similar. And it’s got several profiles so you can get it changed based on the game you’re playing which is nice.
But I’ve been playing a lot of Dune: Awakening lately, and for that, this mouse has been absolutely fantastic, and I am able to still get some decent kills on Overwatch 2 using this mouse so I for one think that it’s a win. In terms of size, coming from my usual Logitech 502X I had to get used to the size, but after adopting more of a claw grip here, it helped with movement. I’d also advise using the included grip pads too, and I’m not usually one who needs them. This mouse felt a bit slippery at times I must admit, and a bit of extra grip here wouldn’t go amiss. It’s got a track speed of 750IPS, 50G of acceleration and a 300mAh battery which I would have liked to have seen a bit higher, but then more weight gets added and to be honest, it’s no sweat getting this thing charged quickly to be honest.
Overall, though not a bad mouse. I’ve seen it for £45 on the RAWM website which is cheaper than third-party sellers which is a great thing to see so pick one up while it’s cheap. It’s nice and lightweight but does need some grip tape to use well as the material is slippery. I mean, it’s called Ice after all so yeah take that as you will. The sensor is modern, and it’s nice and small if a claw grip is your thing. And although I’ve only got a black one here, it comes in some funky shiny red and purple colourways too, so yeah, not a bad gaming mouse. Find out more here.
