Writing this sentence could be a curse in itself; nevertheless, as it stands, Joel Embiid appears healthy and ready to be unleashed at the season’s opening tip. The 76ers’ energetic center Adem Bona brings much enthusiasm to the lineup, but nothing quite compares to the elite skill set of Embiid.

Despite struggling with fitness issues throughout his career, the 32-year-old has averaged 27.6 points, 10.8 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks per game to establish himself as one of the most dominant two-way bigs in the entire league.

Mike Gansey might not deserve the credit for putting Embiid in a position to start the season; however, his ability to construct a roster that should allow Nick Nurse to stagger his offensive talisman’s minutes will be critical to Philadelphia’s success.

As we all know, it won’t be Embiid’s ability to start the campaign that brings the 76ers a title, but his ability to build momentum as the playoffs approach.
