Revamped BMO Eclipse Visa Infinite Privilege Card Offers Enhanced Benefits
The BMO Eclipse Visa Infinite Privilege Card has undergone significant updates, establishing itself as a premium choice for travelers. With a combination of new features and adjustments, cardholders can now enjoy enhanced benefits tailored to their spending needs. This article delves into the card’s new offerings and highlights any potential drawbacks, assisting you in determining if it aligns with your financial goals.
What’s New
For both new users and those considering their next rewards card, here are the key enhancements to the BMO Eclipse Visa Infinite Privilege Card.
No Foreign Transaction Fees
Previously, cardholders faced a 2.5% foreign transaction fee on international purchases, which could accumulate quickly. For frequent travelers, this fee was a notable inconvenience. Thankfully, BMO has removed this charge, allowing cardholders to enjoy international transactions without the foreign transaction fee, although the applicable exchange rates will still apply.
5X Points on Health and Wellness
In response to shifting consumer spending patterns towards personal wellness, the card now awards five points per dollar spent in several new categories, including:
- Massage centers
- Health and beauty spas
- Golf courses (public and private)
- Athletic and recreational club memberships
- Recreational services, such as gyms
There is a cap of $15,000 on spending in this category annually, providing significant rewards compared to the standard earning rate of one point per dollar spent.
Ten Complimentary Lounge Visits Annually
Recent updates to the card have significantly enhanced travel-related perks. Cardholders now enjoy ten complimentary visits to any of over 1,200 participating airport lounges, an increase from the previous six visits per year. Additionally, secondary cardholders who enroll in the Visa Airport Companion membership can also access their own ten visits.
This extra value is particularly beneficial for those who travel often for work or leisure.
Updated Welcome Offer
New cardholders can now benefit from a revamped welcome offer between November 2, 2026, and October 31, 2027. Cardholders can earn up to 200,000 BMO Rewards points by meeting specific spending thresholds:
- Earn 80,000 points by spending at least $10,000 within the first 110 days.
- Earn 40,000 points by spending at least $20,000 within the first 180 days.
- Earn 80,000 points by spending at least $40,000 within the first 12 months.
This updated structure lowers spending requirements while retaining the same points cap, making it easier to maximize rewards.
Other Recent Adjustments
While many changes enhance the card’s utility, there are also notable adjustments and drawbacks to consider.
Removal of 5X Points on Drugstore Purchases
Although the new health and wellness category benefits some users, it comes at the cost of drugstore purchases, which no longer earn five points per dollar spent, reverting to the base rate of one point per dollar. For users who prioritize fitness and wellness-related expenses, this change may present an advantage.
Additionally, other categories such as travel, dining, gas, and groceries still enjoy the five-point reward structure up to their respective caps.
Another significant modification includes the replacement of the $200 lifestyle credit with a $200 travel credit. While it may appear to offer equivalent value, the travel credit is more restrictive. Previously, cardholders could redeem the lifestyle credit against purchases made throughout the year, whereas the new travel credit requires a minimum single transaction of $500 for airfare, hotel stays, or car rentals.
