Agbogbomefia, Togbe Afede and Kennedy Agyapong
The Asogli State Council in the Volta Region has narrated how it rejected a request from NPP Member of Parliament from Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, to attend the 2022 Asogli Te Za (Yam Festival).
In clarifying why the Asogli State rejected Kennedy Agyapong’s gifts over the weekend during the celebration of the Yam Festival, the Council, in a statement signed by its Secretary, Stephen Tetteh, said “Honourable Mr. Kennedy Agyapong, requested through his representatives, for an invitation to attend some programmes of the 2022 Asogli Te Za (Yam Festival).”
The statement obtained by African Entertainment added that “The leadership of the Asogli State Council however disapproved of it (invitation request) because of several loose comments and utterances he had made which the Council viewed as unbecoming of an Honourable Member of Ghana’s Parliament.”
The statement went on to enumerate some of the purported loose comments Kennedy Agyapong, who is seeking to lead the NPP in the 2024 Presidential Election, has made.
Below is the statement:
Mr Agyapong was at the celebrations in person in Ho on Friday to pay homage.
He had sent along some gifts and the gifts were rejected at the durbar ground.
Some sub chiefs, serving as intermediaries to receive the gift on behalf of the Agbogbomefia, Togbe Afede rejected it and asked him to take it away.
The chiefs’ reason was that, Mr Agyapong has allegedly been speaking negatively and using unkind words on Togbe Afede.
