Ababu Namwamba Prays for Ailing News Anchor Catherine Kasavuli as She Battles Cancer

• Ministry of Youth Affairs, Sports and The Arts CS Ababu Namwamba visited ailing news anchor Catherine Kasavuli at the Kenyatta National Hospital
• Namwamba prayed for the veteran broadcaster and requested Kenyans to also spare time and pray for her recovery
• Kasavuli was recently diagnosed with cervical cancer and sent out an appeal asking her fans to donate blood and finances to help her get through the rough patch

The Cabinet Secretary in the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Sports and The Arts Ababu Namwamba took time to visit ailing newscaster Catherine Kasavuli.

Namwamba paid a glowing tribute and offered a prayer for the legendary news anchor when he visited her at the Kenyatta National Hospital.

Prayers for Kasavuli

In photos shared on the ministry’s social media pages, the CS is seen holding Kasavuli who is seated in a hospital bed.

“Catherine holds the crown as the first female TV anchor in Kenya, inspiring generations of female anchors,” reads part of the caption.

She is credited with breaking the glass ceiling for female TV journalists in the country, creating an influence on female journalists that can never be matched.

In her decorated media career, the media personality graced TV screens for several leading news outlets among them KTN, Citizen TV, and the national broadcaster KBC.

“Let us take a moment to say a prayer and wish Legend Kasavuli a quick recovery,” the caption went.

While rallying Kenyans to pray for the ailing TV queen, Namwamba disclosed that the two hope to do coffee soon once she leaves the hospital.

Kasavuli appealed for blood donations

On Monday, November 7, the seasoned journalist who has been battling cervical cancer appealed for blood donations from members of the public.

Members of the public who wish to donate for her were requested to just give as any type of blood is acceptable.

Kasavuli began her career as a radio continuity announcer in 1980 at the Voice of Kenya before transitioning to television.

She took a break from the news screen for corporate affairs but was brought back by KBC last year when the state broadcaster was rebranding.
