BBC Graham Norton: Will Smith’s eye-watering net worth – including over $100million for ONE film

American superstar Will Smith is hands-down one of the greatest entertainers on the planet and has accordingly grown to be one of the richest.

From his relatively humble background growing up in Philadelphia the rapper/dancer/actor extraordinaire rose up to become one of the most well-known faces on Earth.

Will’s big break came in music with his hip-hop group DJ Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince but it was his acting role in sitcom ‘The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air’ that showcased his talents and made him a household name.

From there the 53-year-old performer moved effortlessly into films staring in a plethora of blockbuster films including the biggest grossing movie of 1996, Independence Day.

As Will’s movie popularity increased so too did the cheques and in 2013 magazine Forbes announced that Smith was the most bankable star on the planet.

Although an Academy Award for acting has alluded the dad-of-three he has bagged two best actor nominations.

His first playing boxer Muhammad Ali in Ali (2001) and again in 2006 playing stockbroker Chris Gardner in The Pursuit of Happyness.

The man is a money-making machine who only recently began falling out of the top-fiver highest paid actors in the world.

Will is reportedly the only actor to have starred in eight consecutive films which made over $100 million in the US and 11 in a row which made over $150 million internationally.

While Will regularly commands payment for films in their millions, his bank balance hit the stratosphere in 2012 when he landed $100 million for his part Agent J in Men in Black 3.

The third part of the comedy alien saga reportedly made $624 million so the film makers still made a tidy profit on the movie.

With a staggeringly long career so far and the performer embracing the modern money making tools of TikTok, Instagram and YouTube it really comes at no surprise that website Celebrity Net Worth estimates Will Smith’s value at $350 million.
