Mr Gunner said pending health advice, Territorians could expect booster mandates to continue. 

“The safest thing to assume until we know different is there will be boosters and there will be mandates. COVID is endemic around the world, we know the third booster is required to maintain protection,” Mr Gunner said.

He added the necessity of a second booster shot had not yet been confirmed but that NT Health would respond to new information when it became available.

“It would be fair to assume you may need a fourth booster down the track and then we will mandate that as well,” he said.

“There’s every chance we will need a fourth shot.”
