“Bring it On! Ledama Olekina Dares Gov’t to Probe His Bomas of Kenya Actions

Outspoken Narok senator Ledama Olekina has dared the ruling Kenya Kwanza government to launch a probe of his actions at the Bomas of Kenya.

During the August 9 General Election, Bomas of Kenya acted as the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) national tallying centre.

Cherargei confronts Ledama over Bomas chaos

Ledama was reacting to remarks made by his Nandi counterpart Samson Cherargei on Citizen TV on Wednesday, October 12, that he was behind the chaos at Bomas of Kenya ahead of announcing the presidential results.

“On that particular day, Ledama and I were at the Bomas of Kenya. Some things happened, and he knows. If the police were to go for him for investigations today, he would say the government is fighting him. But he quickly questions why the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) is dropping some criminal cases,” said Cherargei.

But in a quick rejoinder, Ledama, elected on n Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party ticket, said he was ready to be investigated for his actions.

“I am responsible for any action I take, and if this government wants to initiate a commission of inquiry, bring it on, baby. Let us be factual,” Ledama fired back at Cherargei.

According to Ledama, the only problem he has with Cherargei is that he thinks that Kenyans are being entertained by whatever they are going through when he and others are on the other side of the aisle.

“My friend Cherargei is never consistent in his thinking; he is all over the place. So when I am trying to follow one issue he is trying to prosecute, he begins another one before he concludes,” said Ledama.

On Friday, August 19, TUKO.co.ke reported that Ledama revealed developments in the scuffle at the Bomas of Kenya during the declaration of the presidential results.

Ledama speaks out on Bomas chaos

The lawmaker accused Ruto’s supporters of assaulting him until police officers saved him in the vicinity.

“I was brutally assaulted by William Ruto’s supporters most of them elected members of parliament at Bomas of Kenya shouting,” Ledama claimed.

Ledama was among former Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party presidential candidate Raila Odinga’s cronies who were allegedly trying to bar the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) chairman Wafula Chebukati from announcing the results claiming that they were rigged.

However, the heavy presence of police officers and other security forces quelled the situation that enabled a smooth operation afterwards.
