Caitlin Clark blocks Antonio Brown after abusive posts on social media

Caitlin Clark wasn’t known much for blocking ability during her Iowa tenure, but she’s already making news for it since joining the WNBA this week.

The newest member of the Indiana Fever swatted down former NFL star receiver Antonio Brown, who made several misogynistic and derogatory posts about Clark.

“Caitlin Clark looks like she keep it hairy,” Brown posted on X before reposting it with a gif from spoof horror film Scary Movie.

That was more than enough for Clark, who blocked the former Steelers and Bucs wide receiver.

However, Brown kept things going, taking more potshots at the top pick in this week’s WNBA draft.

Brown posted a screenshot showing that he was blocked by Clark with the caption: “Cracker of the Day,” and “Blocked by Cousin It.”

He also posted a picture from the Clark’s introductory news conference, commenting, “She look like she bout to sign the Declaration of Independence,” and, in reference to Clark’s reported Nike signature shoe deal, a picture of shoes covered with dark hair.

This isn’t the first time this week that Clark has had to deal with inappropriate behaviour. During her press conference, Gregg Doyel, a reporter from the Indianapolis Star, had an awkward exchange with Clark that many have called “creepy.”

When he had the opportunity to ask a question, Doyel identified himself and then said, “I’ll only do this” while showing the hoopster’s signature ‘heart’ hand sign.

Clark smiled and asked: “You like that?” to which Doyel responded “I like that you’re here.”

She then stated that she does that gesture “at my family after every game.”

That’s when social media users thought things got a bit cringey.

“Start doing it to me and we’ll get along just fine,” Doyel replied.

While Doyel later apologized on social media, video has emerged of a second awkward exchange during the presser.

In a question to coach Christie Sides, Doyel referred to Clark as “that” and “it” — while Clark was seated just feet away.

As for Brown, since famously retiring from the NFL by taking off his jersey and leaving mid-game, he has been active on social media.

He has posted edited pictures of himself with Gisele Bundchen, the ex-wife of former friend and teammate Tom Brady, which led to the former MVP blocking him.

Brown also has been blocked by U.S. President Joe Biden – something that the former NFL all-pro receiver brags about.

Brown frequently posts his ‘Cracker of the Day’ on the social media platform and often uses the hashtag #CTESPN, a reference to the degenerative brain disease Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy and sports network ESPN.

He also often reposts news stories of athletes or celebrities acting out and uses the hashtag, inferring they are dealing with CTE.

Despite his spiraling behaviour in recent years, Brown repeatedly states that he does not suffer from the disease, which only can be confirmed during an autopsy.
