Coleraine Tudor-style gem dating back a century could break town record

81 McKebery St, Coleraine, could break the town’s price record set earlier this year.

Tudor style and more than a century of history combine at a Coleraine home that’s a veritable time capsule.

And it could smash the township’s house price record, just months after it last fell.

From the leadlight windows to the polished floors and decorative staircase, the 81 McKebery St home is original.

But it has been restumped, the roof re-pointed, and had a modern kitchen installed.

Southern Grampians Livestock & Real Estate’s John Lawson said the stately home had been renovated in keeping with its heritage over the past three years.

“So now it’s a lovely, warm home of the period, but not feeling like it’s out there in the cold,” Mr Lawson said.

“You sit in the chair in front of the fire and it’s lovely. But it’s also a real entertainer’s home.”

A cosy fireplace makes the living room a perfect perch in winter.

Old world charm is on display the moment you step inside the front door.

The double-storey abode’s three-bedroom floorplan includes a sunroom at the rear, a spacious dining and lounge room off the main foyer and a range of outdoor spaces to share with friends and family.

A meals area adjoins the updated kitchen, which now features tiled splashbacks, a walk-in pantry, country-style suspended pan rack and a four-oven Belling stove.

The home’s upstairs bedrooms capture the angular roofline of the home’s Tudor style.

A light-filled sunroom at the rear od the home is one of the few modern elements.

The main bedroom is on the ground floor and comes with a dressing room, walk-in wardrobe and an ensuite. Two more bedrooms join a bathroom upstairs.

Split system airconditioners are a further nod to modern life, as are rooftop solar panels.

A three-bay powered shed has room for a caravan, while the gardens are all landscaped.

Positioned to take in the city lights of Coleraine after dark it’s also poised to set a local price record if sold in its $680,000-$720,000 range.

The kitchen has been updated, but remains in keeping with the home’s period style.

The home’s gardens are also landscaped and well maintained.

The current benchmark for the town west of Hamilton is $625,000, set by a home at 18 Whyte St earlier this year.

Larger farming properties spanning more than 100ha have sold for sums upwards of $2.435m.
