Former Mamelodi Sundowns star Bongani Zungu has landed in Turkey amid Kaizer Chiefs links.
Amakhosi are currently in Europe for their pre-season. Zungu, who left The Brazilians last month has been a free agent but could finally find a home in the next few days. Former Mamelodi Sundowns star Sello Mhlangu has urged Bongani Zungu not to join Kaizer Chiefs but to seek a move abroad.
The lanky midfielder has played six years in Europe before rejoining Sundowns in 2022. His second spell with Masandawana was not effective which eventually saw him leave the club after just two years.
“At this stage, it’s not clear if he is the one who decided to leave, or if it’s the club who asked him to. So far, we haven’t heard anything from the club,” Mahlangu told KickOff.
Bongani Zungu to Kaizer Chiefs becoming a reality
“I don’t think he can leave Sundowns for a local team. It won’t make business sense to anyone involved.
“His next move after Sundowns should be going back to Europe. Him moving to Europe will also benefit Bafana Bafana,” added the former Masandawana star.
“I don’t think he will move to the likes of Chiefs in terms of financial implications. At his age, he is not going to accept anything less than what he is currently paid,” he said.
Bongani Zungu was one of the highest-paid players at Sundowns and if Kaizer Chiefs are to sign him, they’ll need to be willing to pay the midfielder.
