Former Ainabkoi MP William Chepkut Is Dead, Family Confirms

• Former Ainabkoi Member of Parliament William Chepkut died on Saturday, October 8, morning after collapsing at his home
• His family said he was declared dead on arrival at the Mediheal Hospital in Nairobi’s Parklands area
• The Ainabkoi lawmaker will be remembered for his jovial and charismatic side that enabled him to blend well with colleagues and his electorate

Former Ainabkoi Member of Parliament William Chepkut has died while receiving treatment at a Nairobi Hospital.

Chepkut was hospitalised in a Nairobi hospital on October 13, 2021, after falling and sustaining injuries.

In pictures shared by leaders who visited him in the hospital, the leader is seen with bandages on his legs and hand.

However, it is still unclear what made the politician fall and when he was admitted to the health facility.

On the morning of Wednesday, October 13, Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi visited the MP in the facility to check on his progress.

“This morning I paid a visit to my friend and colleague who is currently receiving treatment in the hospital? I wish you a speedy recovery,” he said.

He contested for the Ainabmoi MP seat on an independent ticket.

He emerged the winner, his attempts to defend his seat in the August 9 General Election were futile as the United Democratic Alliance swept him off the seat.

Before his entrance into politics, he was the personal assistant of the late Moi powerful minister Nicholas Biwott.

A jovial and charismatic leader

For the better part of his adult life, the late comic leader endeared himself to Kenyans thanks to his outgoing personality.

Videos of him playing master of ceremony on occasions shocked many as they questioned how an MP could easily mingle with people like the Ainabmoi lawmaker.

He enrolled into the Kenya School of Government in 1997 where he was awarded an Advanced Certificate in Supplies Management.

From 1991 to 1992, he joined the Kenya Polytechnic now the Technical University of Kenya to study for a Diploma in Purchasing and Supplies Management.

He joined the prestigious Jabalpur University in India from 1992 to 1995 to undertake a Bachelor of Commerce course.

In 2002 he pursued a Certificate in Senior Public Administration at the Kenya Institute of Administration.

He was awarded a Certificate Course in Integrity at Egerton University in 2005.

The vibrant lawmaker attained a Master of Arts in Community Development and Organization from Kenyatta University.
