A man is dead and it is understood at least one man is in custody after a suspected bikie-related fatal shooting in Perth’s northern suburbs.
Gang crime detectives, the squad that keeps bikies in check, descended on the crime scene on Sydney Road in Gnangara just after 4pm Thursday afternoon.
PerthNow understands the victim was shot twice and his death is a bikie-related homicide, according to a law enforcement source.
Police are yet to formally identify the victim but he is believed to be a man aged in his mid-30s. It is also understood at least one man has been taken into custody.
PerthNow has confirmed paramedics called police to the scene after they tried to revive a man who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
It is understood the man was shot in the stomach and chest and was pronounced dead at the scene.
It is believed a motorcycle was seen leaving the scene after the shooting.
Homicide Squad detectives are leading the investigation.
“We urge anyone in the area to remain vigilant, and if anyone sights any person, or vehicle, acting in a suspicious manner, to contact police immediately,” a police spokesperson said.
Homicide detectives arrived about 7pm. A forensic van arrived about 7.30pm.
Roadblocks are in place at the intersection of Lakelands Drive. Police were only letting residents of the Lakelands Lifestyle Village through after asking for proof of identification and their address.
WA Police have been contacted for comment but are yet to release an official statement.
The investigation comes almost two years since Rebels bikie boss Nick Martin was assassinated at Perth Motorplex in December 2020.
Martin was shot by a paid hitman, a former soldier who was jailed last year for 20 years over the murder that shocked WA.
Former Martin ally David Pye is accused of orchestrating the assassination and it is alleged he also ordered the same hitman to take out Comanchero Ray Cilli, who is believed to be hiding out in Thailand.
Martin lived in Gnangara, the same suburb where the latest homicide investigation is centred, in a $1 million compound with his wife Amanda.
