NZNO Announces Results of Member Ballot on Government Change
The Tōpūtanga Tapuhi Kaitiaki o Aotearoa, known as NZNO, has disclosed the results of a recent ballot concerning a policy remit that was introduced at its Annual General Meeting held in September.
According to NZNO Chief Executive Paul Goulter, the organization operates on a member-led framework, emphasizing the importance of member input through their elected delegates and representatives on the national executive and Te Poari.
The ballot, which focused on the proposal from the Pōneke Wellington Local Organising Group to support a change of government in the upcoming 2026 General Election, concluded at midday today.
The results revealed that 3,527 members voted in favor of the remit, while 816 opposed it, and there were 332 abstentions. This resulted in a voter turnout of 7.17%, with a total of 4,675 votes cast out of 65,183 eligible voters.
“In accordance with NZNO’s constitution, all member votes on remits must be conducted over a period of 30 days. We appreciate the active participation of all members in this voting process,” Goulter stated.
