A candidate who was set to sit for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations has died after giving birth via a Caesarean section.
Velma Anita Ochieng died at the Homa Bay Teaching and Referral Hospital on Monday, November 28, after she delivered her baby.
Information reaching TUKO.co.ke indicating the 19-year-old girl who studied at Nyajanja Mixed Secondary School in Kochia developed complications after giving birth.
Her family also accused doctors at the hospital of abandoning their kin, saying she would have made it out alive had they paid attention to her deteriorating health condition.

On her part, Homa Bay woman representative Joyce Atieno sent her condolence messages to the bereaved family, saying the authorities were following up on the matter.
“A heartfelt condolence to the family and friends of Velma Anita Ochieng (a student at Nyajanja Mixed Secondary School in Kochia), who died on Monday morning at Homa Bay Teaching and Referral Hospital. We are following up on this with relevant institutions for action. We appeal to the public to remain calm,” she said.
