Labor government was warned price caps could affect investment

Nationals Senator Matt Canavan says the Coalition warned the Albanese government that rushing on the gas cap legislation could affect investment.

This comes after Senex Energy announced its $1 billion gas expansion project would be put on hold following the energy price cap.

“And within a week, we’ve had confirmation of that their billion-dollar project now has been paused here in Queensland,” he told Sky News Australia.

“This could have delivered 60 petajoules of gas a year which is more than 10 per cent of eastern Australia’s demand.”
