Major union proposes ‘free-riders’ be charged

The United Workers Union is proposing “free-riders” be charged for benefitting from pay deals the union negotiated for.

The major union has been struggling with member numbers, with the union’s National Secretary Tim Kennedy stating the organisation needs hundreds of thousands of new memberships to ensure multi-employer bargaining is sustainable.
