Police are investigating after a stabbing took place on Boleyn Road in Hackney on Monday evening.
A man in his 20s is in hospital following the incident at 7.30pm. Police say they are awaiting an update on the man’s condition and that no arrests have been made so far.
A Section 60 order – which allows police officers to stop and search anyone in a particular area – has been put in place covering the borough of Hackney.
Where a Section 60 is in place, it means officers can search anyone in a certain area, for example, when there is evidence that serious violence has taken place or may take place.
The officer should explain this to anyone who is searched and must be searching for items to be used in connection with violence.
It is set for a limited time and allows officers to stop and search people without reasonable grounds.
Anyone who has any information about the stabbing is urged to contact police on 101, quoting the reference number 5091/27Dec or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
