Mining profits ‘strengthen’ case for increased royalties in Queensland

[ad_1]

Queensland Deputy Premier Steven Miles says the “incredible profits” made by mining companies strengthen the case to have in place a royalty regime that ensures Queenslanders “get the value of the resources that they own”.

The Queensland government is set to earn over $1 billion in coal royalties in two months, according to the state’s Resources Council.

The government was criticised for raising coal royalties in the June budget after claims it could put future investment at risk.
