Musalia Mudavadi Advocates for Unity in Western Kenya Ahead of 2027 Elections

Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has called for unity among the residents of Western Kenya, urging them to strengthen their political representation in preparation for the upcoming 2027 General Election. He emphasized the critical need for the region to have a significant role in national decision-making.
During a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) delegates’ meeting in Shitoto village, located in Kakamega County, Mudavadi stated that Western Kenya must not remain passive as pivotal decisions impacting the nation are made. “2027 is our time to reshape the narrative. It is essential that we secure our place at the decision-making table. Remaining mere spectators is not an option when the future of our region hangs in the balance,” he declared.
Mudavadi argued that the influence of the region in Parliament is contingent upon its representation, advocating for the election of more members of Parliament (MPs). He pointed out that greater numbers would enhance the region’s voice in important parliamentary committees, including the Budget Committee. “Parliament holds substantial authority in its own right. We need more MPs in order to influence critical committees. Having a larger representation ensures our impact on decisions that affect our country,” he explained.
Shifting his focus to the opposition, Mudavadi criticized its leaders for their disunity and challenged them to present clear, actionable manifestos that delineate their vision for Kenyans.
He expressed confidence that the ongoing divisions within the opposition would ultimately benefit President William Ruto as he seeks re-election in 2027, predicting that the president could secure a win in the first round without a need for a petition. “We want Ruto to win decisively, leaving no room for dispute,” he asserted.
