A multi-vehicle crash on State Highway 1 has caused injuries and closed the road near Ōtaki.
The crash happened about 6.15am and involved four vehicles, police said. Emergency services were there and injuries were reported.
The highway is blocked at Forest Lakes Road and diversions are in place.
A helicopter was sent to the scene along with emergency services, Waka Kotahi said.
Motorists were asked to avoid the areas and warned to expect significant delays.

Meanwhile on SH2 near Belmont in the Hutt Valley, a serious crash had closed southbound lane near the Kennedy Good bridge intersection.
The road reopened about 7.10am but Waka Kotahi said there were still delays as backed-up traffic cleared.
