Museveni’s Son Muhoozi Threatens to Arrest Kenyan Lawyer Pressing Treason Charges against Him

• A Kenyan lawyer Apollo Mboya requested the arrest and prosecution of Uganda’s military leader Muhoozi Kainerugaba
• The advocate filed a petition arguing that Muhoozi made treasonable statements that placed Kenya in a compromising situation over her territorial integrity
• Muhoozi, in turn, has threatened to arrest the lawyer, he had also petitioned for the making of a United East Africa bloc

Kenyan lawyer Apollo Mboya has applied to have criminal proceedings against the son of Ugandan president Yoweri Museveni.

The lawyer wanted Muhoozi Kainerugaba put to account for his sentiments and threats to invade Nairobi. Apollo said the attempts were treasonable.

In a quick rebuttal, Muhoozi laughed off the matter, saying maybe he should arrest those accusing him of treason.

“Haha! Maybe I should arrest the ones who are charging me with treason?” Muhoozi said on Twitter.

Apollo’s petition

In a case filed by Apollo at the Milimani Law Courts, the lawyer seeks to have the top Uganda military leader arrested and charged with treason.

In the petition, the advocate highlighted a case where Muhoozi made remarks on Twitter threatening to use his military to invade Nairobi.

“It wouldn’t take me and my army two weeks to capture Nairobi,” he said.

Apollo said the careless remarks were a threat to our territorial integrity.

“That Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the 3rd Respondent who is a Senior Military Officer in the neighbouring country of Uganda has committed treasonable offences of threatening national security, territorial integrity and sovereignty of Kenya after expressing his intention to launch a military invasion to capture Nairobi, the capital city of the Republic of Kenya within two (2) weeks,” read the petition.

He implied that the promotion of Muhoozi by the Uganda president was, in a way, a rubber stamp to his Twitter salvos.

“The Head of State of the Republic of Uganda who is also the Commander of the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF), has rewarded Lt. General Muhoozi Kainerugaba by promoting him to a full General of the Uganda Peoples’ Defense Force (UPDF) following his threats to invade Kenya thereby conferring additional capabilities to General Muhoozi Kainerugaba,” the advocate explained.

Grievous violation of the penal code

According to the lawyer, the vocal Uganda military officer violated section 43 of the penal code that pronounced treasonous charges on people who went against their allegiance to Kenya.

Apollo implicated the Inspector General of Police and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions for failing to take action against Muhoozi.

They have been listed as the first and second correspondents consecutively.

Muhoozi Hints He’s Been Sacked

Muhoozi, who was recently stripped of his title as the commander of land forces and made a four-star general without a jurisdiction, has done little to quell the rumours.

In a statement shared on Twitter, the outspoken general stated that people had convinced his father to sack him from his previous duties.

He, however, maintained his praises and admiration for former president Uhuru Kenyatta, adding that he was confident God was on his side.
