Nyamira Man Wows Kenyans after Putting up Luxurious Village House Worth KSh 6m: “My Dream Home”

• Tom built the house in his rural Nyamira home, and for him, this is a childhood dream come true
• He also said with his project, he wanted to inspire young people, as many are held back from building houses in the village

A Nyamira man has wowed many Kenyans after he shared pictures of the humongous house he is building in the village.

Tom Nyakaba, who started building the beautiful home in 2020, could not hide his pride and joy as his childhood dream to build a home finally came to pass.

TUKO.co.ke reached out to the man who said he managed to build the project using his savings and Sacco loan, adding the construction took him about KSh 6.6 million.

“I took a Sacco loan and added my savings to do my dream house. It finally cost me around KSh 6 million,” he said.

For Tom, the opportunity to build such a lovely house is humbling as he grew up in abject poverty and even lived in a grass-thatched house with his siblings and mother.

“I used to sleep in a grass-thatched house with my brothers, and to be here is humbling. Above all, I give glory to God. Also, having been brought up by a single parent, I wanted to make my mother proud of her hard work,” he added.

He also said with his project, he wanted to inspire young people, as many are held back from building houses in the village due to witchcraft fears.

“I did this house to show the young people that witchcraft is a fallacy and no one can kill anyone for doing a good house. Some of the guys from my village fear doing great houses because of witchcraft, the narrative I wanted to change,”he said.

In a separate report, a Kisii man inspired Kenyans after showing the progress of the KSh 1.5 million house he has been building.

Jones Nyaberi shared the progress of the house he has been building in Kisii, and though it is yet to be fully completed, many were excited to learn he achieved this milestone while working as a boda boda rider.
