Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Themba Zwane could be charged by the Premier Soccer League (PSL) for misconduct over his antics following last weekend’s MTN8 quarter-final match against Moroka Swallows.
The 33-year-old Bafana Bafana international received a yellow card before a ball was kicked. The star left the centre circle and together with his teammates and went to greet the home supporters which then delayed the game by a few minutes.
The PSL have now summoned Zwane and Downs to the Disciplinary Committee over the incident.
Sundowns went on to beat Swallows 1-0 after Andile Jali received a straight red card in the opening 10 minutes of the match.

PSL to sort Mshishi and Downs out
PSL prosecutor Zola Majavu confirmed that the Tshwane giants together with their captain could be charged next week when they face the committee.
“I can confirm, early this morning, I preferred charges against Mr Zwane, the captain of Mamelodi Sundowns, as well as Mamelodi Sundowns arising from their encounter in the MTN8 kickoff match,” Majavu was quoted by iDiski Times.

“In the match, it was delayed by approximately three minutes, as a result of this misconduct which is legislated against in the rules of the league, they have been summoned to appear before the PSL DC on the 24th of August.
“Once the matter is finalised, I will give a final update on the outcome, there will be no running commentary on this matter until I update officially and formally,” said the PSL prosecutor.

Sundowns captain Themba Zwane to face the music
Sundowns have started the season well winning all of their four games in all competitions. Their next PSL game is against Chippa United on Saturday evening at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.
Having reached the MTN8 semis, the Brazilians will now take on rivals Kaizer Chiefs over a two-legged tie for a place in the final.
