One of the officers injured in Monday’s fatal shoot-out that left six dead is expected to be released from hospital today as investigators continue to piece together how the tragedy unfolded.
An emotional Police Commissioner Katarina Carroll has described the heartbreak she felt walking through the scene at a Wieambilla property, about three hours west of Brisbane, where Constable Rachel McCrow, 29, Constable Matthew Arnold, 26, and 58-year-old local man Alan Dare were shot dead.
Constable Randall Kirk, who was injured in the shooting at a Wieambilla, is due to be released from hospital.
Two other officers – Constable Keely Brough and Constable Randall Kirk – were able to flee the situation as they saw their colleagues and Dare gunned down in front of them.
Brough was released from hospital yesterday while her policing partner, Constable Randall Kirk, remained for treatment.

Carroll told Nine’s Today show that she expected Kirk to be released from hospital sometime this morning.
“I spoke to both of them yesterday. I saw Keely and I’ll see Randall this morning,” she said.
“They’re holding up well. Eternally grateful they’re alive, but incredibly saddened they saw two of their colleagues killed in front of them.
“It’s something I think that will never leave them for the rest of their lives.”
