Hilo, Hawaii is home to Big Island Candies. Hilo is a very lucky city of 44,000 to have within its city limits this fine establishment. Big Island Candies makes the best short bread cookies in the world. I’m ready to fight on this point. (Note: Big island Candies also has a store in Honolulu in the Ala Moana Mall.)
This past week Big Island Candies was paid a visit. Visitors are given samples upon entry, offered a cup of coffee to accompany and then let loose to explore the many displays full of confections, cookies, shortbreads, brownies and other items designed to make any sweet-tooth ache with pleasure.
Additionally, visiting Big Island Candies means one can watch the magic happen through a extraordinary large glass window, it resembled Willie Wonka’s Chocolate Factor with the cookies being hand dipped in chocolate, varieties being boxed and other magical event happening right before your eyes.
The good news? You don’t have to go to Hawaii to enjoy the shortbread cookies, they ship.
