Rigathi Gachagua to Meet Uhuru Kenyatta for Cup of Tea to Make Peace: “It Was All Politics”

• He said being the former head of state’s friend of over 20 years, he plans on looking for him so that they can have tea together
• This is despite Rigathi’s hard-hitting inauguration speech in which he blasted Uhuru after taking the oath of office

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has expressed interest in meeting former president Uhuru Kenyatta for a cup of tea to catch up on the old times and make peace.

While terming their bad blood as mere politics, the DP said he would love a chance to catch up with Uhuru as they are still buddies of 20 years.

Speaking during an interview with KTN News, the former Mathira lawmaker said there was nothing personal about their feud, adding that he would look for him for a cup of tea.

“We have no problem with our outgoing president Uhuru Kenyatta. We wish him well in retirement. You know he is my buddy of 20 years, and when things settle down, I will look for him and catch up on good times,” he said.

This is not the first time that the Kenya Kwanza top leadership insists they have no problem with Uhuru, whose reign they castigated and accused of intimidating them.

A few days before the August 9 elections, Ruto maintained he would protect his boss.

While addressing the Kenya Kwanza supporters at Nyayo stadium on Saturday, August 6, Ruto said that there should be no cause for alarm by Uhuru should he form the next government.

“You have absolutely nothing to fear,” Ruto told Uhuru, who has since thrown his weight behind his handshake partner, Raila Odinga of the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition party.

In other news, after taking the oath of office at Kasarani Stadium, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua took to the podium to make his inauguration speech.

In his speech, Gachagua seized the moment to launch a scathing attack on former president Uhuru Kenyatta.

Without mincing his words, the second in command accused Uhuru of plummeting the country’s economy, which the new government will have an uphill task to rebuild.

“The truth of the matter is that we have inherited a dilapidated economy which is almost facing shut down. We have a huge task to liberate this country and bring it back to where Mwai Kibaki left it,” said Gachagua.
