The Nationals Deputy leader Perin Davey says the scrapping of regional projects in Labor’s newly announced budget is “treating the regions with utter disrespect”.
The budget also saw large amounts of dedicated funding axed.
Ms Perin says she “would argue that the old grants processes were transparent”.
“The guidelines were all published, everyone had to meet the guidelines, the departments assessed everything against those guidelines and then those that met the guidelines were presented to ministers and in some cases, like the Building Better Regions Fund, it wasn’t a single minister it was a quorum of ministers who made the decisions,” Ms Davey told Sky News Australia.
