South London Press transfer deadline day LIVE – Charlton confirm arrival of Luton midfielder and Arsenal defender undergoing Palace medical

Luton midfielder Watson makes Charlton loan move – 16:30PM

Luton Town midfielder Louie Watson has joined Charlton on loan – a story we broke right at the start of the day when we were still feeling bright and breezy (nobody mention there are still six hours left in this transfer window).

The 22-year-old is the Addicks’ ninth signing of the window.

Charlton technical director Andy Scott: “He is another player who is highly-regarded and their rise to the Premier League has given us this unique opportunity to get a young player with immense talent into our football club. Unfortunately we have had a number of injuries in our midfield area and so the acquisition of Louie will complement the group well and give us more strength in depth.”

Chelsea defender set for Burnley switch – 16:00PM

Ian Maatsen looks set for a loan move to Burnley.

The 21-year-old spent last season on loan at Turf Moore.

He started for Chelsea in their 2-1 EFL Cup win over AFC Wimbledon on Wednesday evening.

Reports suggest that Vincent Kompany’s side are willing to loan the versatile Dutch youngster and then pay a future fee of £31.5million.

Arsenal defender undergoing Palace medical – 15:45PM

Arsenal defender Rob Holding is undergoing his medical at Crystal Palace ahead of a permanent move.

We reported earlier today that the Eagles were weighing up a move for the 27-year-old.

Wimbledon complete midfielder loan signing – 15:32PM

AFC Wimbledon have completed the signing of Charlie Lakin on loan from Burton Albion until January.

Dons boss Johnnie Jackson said: “Charlie’s an experienced midfield player, he’s played a lot at our level. He comes with a really good pedigree. He’s a fit boy, he can run all day, he’s got bundles of energy, I really think he’ll fit into our style and the way we want to go about things.

“As with most of the signings this summer, the enthusiasm and the appetite from the lad when I spoke to him about coming here was infectious. He wants to be a part of what we’re doing and has seen how we’ve started the season. In recent games, we’ve found ourselves a bit light in that position, so he’s here to help us.”

Former Charlton striker set for Championship loan – 15:15PM

Former Charlton striker Mason Burstow is reportedly set for a season-long loan at Championship side Sunderland.

The 20-year-old started on Wednesday evening for Chelsea against AFC Wimbledon in the EFL Cup.

Burstow joined the Blues on a permanent February 2022 but was loaned back to the Addicks for the rest of the 2021-22 campaign.

Millwall confirm Luton loanee – 14:00PM

Millwall have announced the signing of Allan Campbell on a season-long loan from Luton Town.

Campbell made 48 appearances for the Hatters last season and the Glaswegian was also on Millwall’s radar while he was plying his trade at Motherwell.

“There has been a long-standing interest in him,” Millwall boss Gary Rowett told the South London Press. “He is one of those players whose sheer energy and drive means you can’t help but admire. He has got lots of qualities to go with that as well.

“He’s showed that over the last few seasons. He started a lot of games for Luton last season, in a division they managed to get out of – it’s something we’re aspiring to do also.

“He’ll be a really, really good addition to the group.

Palace boss comments on links with Arsenal defender – 13:30PM

Roy Hodgson has been asked about Crystal Palace’s interest in Arsenal defender Rob Holding.

The 76-year-old said: “He is a player who has interested us for a while. Dougie Freedman (Palace sporting director) knows him very well.

“We’re working on the basis that you can’t have too many quality players in your squad. If he was available and it’s a deal that is doable I’d be very happy to work with him.

“Our squad is not that massive. There is space in the 25-man squad for another player. If it could be Rob we’d be happy with that.”

Millwall set to announce loan duo – 13:20PM

#Millwall have completed the loan signings of Allan Campbell and Ryan Longman from Luton and Hull respectively. Official confirmation coming very soon.

Sunderland come in for Palace youngster – 13:00PM

Sunderland have reportedly come in with a loan bid for Crystal Palace youngster Jesurun Raky-Sakyi.

However, the Eagles would need to find a replacement before tonight’s 11PM deadline.

The 20-year-old spent last season on loan at Charlton Athletic in League One, scoring 15 goals and grabbing eight assists.

Fulham look set to allow another asset to leave – 12:26PM

First it was Aleksandar Mitrovic. Now it looks set to be midfield powerhouse Joao Palhinha on his way out of Fulham.

Not many Premier League clubs would allow two of their key players and prize assets to go, let alone in the same transfer window.

The Portuguese rock has been granted permission to fly out to Germany as Bayern Munich have reportedly agreed a deal in principle. Suggestion is that the deal will only go through if Fulham are able to line up a replacement.

Fulham’s Joao Palhinha (left) celebrates scoring their side’s second goal of the game with team-mates during the Premier League match at The City Ground, Nottingham.

Former Lion Gyabi could be on the move – 12:23PM

Reports that former Millwall youngster Darko Gyabi is a possible loan exit from Leeds United today. Fleetwood Town, who face Charlton at The Valley tomorrow, are keen on a temporary move. The Athletic’s Phil Hay says that Leeds open to the Catford-born midfielder, 19, going on loan.

Charlton working on loan deal for Udinese defender – 11:59AM

The Addicks are in the market for a centre-back and it appears that could end up being Udinese defender James Abankwah.

The Republic of Ireland U21 international is available on loan. Ireland U21 boss Jim Crawford is a big fan. He said: “He’s got an abundance of talent in terms of his defensive qualities. He is strong and pacy, in one-v-one situations he is excellent.”

Lions terminate Voglsammer deal ahead of Hannover 96 move – 11:30AM

Millwall have confirmed that Andreas Voglsammer’s contract – due to expire next summer – has been terminated by mutual consent.

The former Union Berlin attacker is set to sign for Hannover 96.

Millwall midfielder set for Wrexham move – 11:08AM

Millwall midfielder George Evans is set to sign for League Two Wrexham. The former Derby County player has struggled for regular game time this season.

No transfer move for Addicks midfielder – 10:50AM

Charlton midfielder Conor McGrandles will not be leaving The Valley this transfer window after picking up a fresh injury.

The 27-year-old spent the end of last season on loan at Cambridge United.

Watson suffered a hamstring injury which kept him out until November but was then a virtual ever present in League One, making 34 appearances in all competitions.

He started his career at Reading and had a loan with AFC Wimbledon in the 2018-19 campaign.

“I’m excited to get started and it feels great to sign,” he said.

“I’ve joined Chelsea because the project here sounds good and because of the platform I will have to try to showcase my talents.

“It is a young and hungry squad and, hopefully, we can do something special.”
