Apple didn’t release iOS 17.1 to the public on Tuesday as many were expecting, but the company has released an important update to TestFlight that fixes a problem affecting users who have already updated their devices to iOS 17.1 RC and iPadOS 17.1 RC.
TestFlight bug affecting iOS 17.1 users
According to the TestFlight 3.4.3 release notes, the update fixes a bug that prevented some users from redeeming the code to download a beta app on the platform. More specifically, Apple says that the bug affected the latest version of iOS available to developers and beta testers. With today’s TestFlight update, the bug has been fixed.
“Specifically, an issue preventing users from accepting an invitation to test a beta app via redemption code was resolved,” says the company in the release notes. “Testers on iOS 17.1, iPadOS 17.1, or later will need to use this latest version of TestFlight to accept an invitation via redemption code.”
For those unfamiliar, TestFlight is an Apple platform that allows developers to distribute their beta apps to users outside the App Store. Users can be invited to download a beta app by email, direct link, or using a redeem code.

Apple began testing iOS 17.1 beta about a month ago. The update brings some new features to the iPhone and iPad, such as a new button to favorite songs and options to customize the artwork of a playlist in Apple Music.
iOS 17.1 also adds a new option to turn off the display in StandBy mode after 20 seconds, AirDrop over cellular, and improvements to how the Action Button works on the iPhone 15 Pro.
While Apple hasn’t confirmed the release date for iOS 17.1, a French regulator revealed that the update would be released to the public today – which obviously didn’t happen. However, given that the RC (Release Candidate) build was released a few days ago, the update could be made available to everyone at any time now.
