Thursday’s weather: Heatwave grips Eastern Cape, alerts for severe thunderstorms in parts of SA

The South African Weather Service has warned of thunderstorms that come with damaging winds and hail across a number of provinces.

The South African Weather Service has issued warnings for severe thunderstorms that will come with hail and damaging winds across several provinces, while an alert for fire danger conditions in the Northern and Western Cape remains in place. Heatwave conditions are also expected to grip parts of the Eastern Cape until the weekend. 

Impact-based warnings: 

A. A Yellow Level 2 warning has been issued for severe thunderstorms with damaging winds and hail over the Free State, extreme eastern parts of the Northern Cape, central and western parts of the North West, and southern KwaZulu-Natal.
