Two policewomen have been disgraced from duty after a truck driver hid a camera and captured them extorting KSh 123 from him.

The two coppers, the police administration has clarified, are attached to the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) in Kumasi. They have since been interdicted.
In a video that has since gone viral, the two policewomen are seen collecting KSh 123 from the driver of what appears to be a heavy-duty truck.
It is not clear why the police officers stopped the vehicle but some reports say the driver violated a road traffic regulation.

In the video, one of the ladies is heard complaining in the local dialect that the KSh 61 the driver had earlier offered was little.
They also threatened to impound the vehicle if the driver fails to top up.
As soon as the driver handed the KSh 123 to one of them, he was allowed to drive off.
Police in the Ashanti Region has condemned the action of the two policewomen as unprofessional.
“If found guilty, they would be made to face the full face of the law aside the internal disciplinary actions,” the police warned in a statement dated December 28, 2022.
NPS issues tough warning to Kenyans
This came when the National Police Service (NPS) reiterated that bhang is illegal in Kenya saying the socio-economic downside of the herb outweighs the gains.

The NPS issued the warning at a time when former Roots party presidential candidate George Wajackoyah had been pledging to legalise the drug should he win the presidency in the August 9, elections.
On social media, the police service urged Kenyans from using bhang and also posted pictures of law enforcers uprooting the herb during a crackdown.
