As widely reported on TheSouthAfrican, Nasreddine Nabi is poised to officially become the new coach at Kaizer Chiefs. At this point, as soon as his current duties with current club AS FAR in Morocco have been completed for the season, he will be announced by Amakhosi.
As first reported by SABC Sport, Nabi recently became the ‘overwhelming favourite for the Kaizer Chiefs hot seat’, and key terms have since been agreed upon.
One of these terms has been related to securing permission to assemble his own support staff, and SABC Sport now reports that Portuguese mentor Fernando Da Cruz will join him at Naturena as a member of his technical team.
Da Cruz has experience at various levels, from youth teams to senior professional clubs. He’s known for working as both a caretaker manager, stepping in for short stints, and taking on longer-term projects.
He impressed while managing FAR Rabat in Morocco’s Botola Pro League, even though he left the team before the season’s conclusion.
This is expected to be just one of Nabi’s preferred appointments as he begins to assemble his ‘dream team’ at Kaizer Chiefs.

Besides some additions to the management team, Nabi will also undoubtedly look to target some player recruits.
Reliable online source Unplayable has just reported that Botswana international striker Tumisang Orobonye will be put forward as a key recruit for Chiefs to execute.

Boasting plenty of experience with Botswana’s national team, the 28-year-old striker has made a name for himself with his impressive goal scoring and trophy haul.
Orebonye’s journey began in Botswana, but he truly blossomed in North Africa. After a stint with Olympique Khouribga, he moved to USM Alger in Algeria. There, he reached new heights, contributing to their CAF Confederation Cup and CAF Super Cup victories in 2023. Notably, he became the first Botswana footballer to win a major continental title.
Earlier, Orebonye returned to Morocco to join AS FAR, where he has continued to excel under Nabi, who is now keen to bring him across to Kaizer Chiefs.
