A person who reported he was stabbed in the neck by someone he was arguing with Friday night at a CTA Green Line station in the West Town neighborhood may not have been on the CTA after all, officials said Saturday afternoon.
Shortly before 10 p.m. Friday, police said the victim was involved in an argument at a CTA train station in the 100 block of North Ashland Avenue when the person he was arguing with pulled out a knife and stabbed him in the neck before fleeing the scene.
But later Saturday, the CTA said after reviewing video footage, the stabbing did not occur in the Ashland Green Line station or on the CTA property.
The victim, whose age was not given, waved down police and removed the knife from his neck. He was taken in fair condition to Stroger Hospital, police said.
The CTA continues to assist police, who said no one was in custody and detectives were investigating, with its investigation.
