WA woman makes odd ‘alien’ discovery on a Ledge Point beach

A mum was left shocked after finding an ‘alien’ like discovery on a WA beach and took to social media to get answers.

The woman posted two photos of the unusual object she had found while walking along a beach in Ledge Point, just over an hour north of Perth, to the Reddit account nicox31984.

The photos showed thick white noodle-like strands protruding from the sand, leaving the mother and her kids baffled.

The caption read: “Found at the beach in Ledge Point. Some in clumps and some single strands, coming up out of the sand. The kids and I are curious, does anyone know what it is? Thanks!”

The odd photos attracted hundreds of comments from users trying to figure out what the sea object was which the mum claimed was “all along the water’s edge”.

“Linguine, must have washed over from the Mediterranean Sea in last Fridays storm,” one person joked.

Some users suggested dead seaweed, beach worms or squid eggs before the mum decided it must be seaweed that had been sun-bleached.

One user suggested: “Bleached seagrass. Which is a true plant as opposed to algae”

“They look like tree roots. Are there plants nearby? Maybe the sand washed away in a storm?” a third person questioned.
