The special effects are better than ever as some of Doctor Who’s most memorable characters reunite for three special episodes celebrating the show’s 60th anniversary.
The BBC released a one-minute long teaser trailer on Christmas Day (UK time) ahead of the specials, which will air in November 2023.
David Tennant will return to the show as the Doctor, alongside Tennant-era companion Donna Noble, played by Catherine Tate.
Trans actor Yasmin Finney will be the new face of Rose Tyler – the first companion to feature in the 2005 series reboot.

Also returning is Jacqueline King, who will reprise her role as Sylvia Noble, as well as Karl Collins, who plays Donna’s husband.
The show’s 60th anniversary comes after the death of actor Bernard Cribbins in 2022, who played Donna’s granddad Wilfred Mott in the series. Fans have speculated that the late Cribbins may appear in the special episodes, though this has not been confirmed by the BBC.

The specials are expected to be Tennant’s final stint as the Doctor before Sex Education star Ncuti Gatwa takes over the role.
The newly released trailer shows characters grappling with mysterious villains, monsters and Unit.
“We wanted to give fans, friends and families a lovely little Christmas present – with a promise that 2023 will be a riot of Doctor Who goodness,” showrunner Russell T Davies told the BBC.
