Perhaps you’ve seen it. (He says with tongue in cheek.)
“It” would be the meltdown from Democratic “Squad” House Members Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York, Rashida Tlaib of Michigan, Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts and Ilhan Omar of Minnesota because House Speaker Kevin McCarthy had removed Omar from the House Foreign Affairs Committee. Removed her because of her blatant and repeated anti-Semitism.
Here’s a sample headline from The Hill: ‘Squad’ members rail against Omar’s removal: ‘This is about targeting women of color’
The story reports this:
“Members of the ‘squad’ of progressive House lawmakers on Thursday railed against House Republicans for voting to remove one of their own, Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), from the House Foreign Affairs Committee, arguing the move was motivated by GOP bias against women of color in Congress.
… ‘There is nothing consistent with the Republican Party’s continued attack, except for the racism and incitement of violence against women of color in this body,’ Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) said in fiery remarks that prompted applause from Democrats.
‘This is about targeting women of color in the United States of America.’
…Rep. Cori Bush (D-Mo.) called the resolution to oust Omar from the Foreign Affairs panel ‘offensive’ and ‘just a bunch of racist gaslighting.’”
Well of course.
What was distinctly notable was what the media did not say in all of this dust-up. Like, say, history.
There is a reason The Squad members played the race card here. That reason, not that you would know it from the media, is that race is what the Left has always been about. It is the Left’s go-to, and has been, in this instance, right from the formation of the Democrat Party.
Recall:
*The Democrat Party was co-founded, according to historians, by slaveowners Thomas Jefferson and Andrew Jackson. In fact, the first seven Democrat presidents serving between 1800 and 1861 owned slaves.
*The party began the practice of writing a quadrennial platform in 1840, and every presidential election year afterwards. The first six of these -from 1840 to 1860 – specifically supported slavery.
- Democrats in Congress opposed the Thirteenth, Fourteenth and Fifteenth Amendments to the Constitution. They successively abolished slavery, gave blacks due process rights and the Fifteenth gave the right to vote.
- With slavery abolished the Democrats set about about opposing the Republican sponsored and passed Civil Rights Act of 1866 – providing blacks with the right to own property- and the Civil Rights Act of 1875, the latter prohibiting racial discrimination.
- Of course, it was Democrats who set about establishing the “Jim Crow” laws that created segregation.
- And historians have well documented that the Ku Klux Klan, according to historian Eric Foner of Columbia University, was “a military force serving the interests of the Democratic Party”. University of North Carolina historian Allen Trelease described the Klan as the “terrorist arm of the Democratic Party.”
There’s more of this…oh so much more. But the bottom line is that as created and as it has evolved the Democrat Party of today exists in a culture of race and racism. Everything is about race.
Which can easily explain why this latest episode with The Squad has happened in the first place. Congresswoman Omar is not viewed by The Squad as what, in fact, she is: an American. And a Member of Congress. Neither of which terms have any relationship to skin color. No. The Squad demands that she be judged on her skin color.
So the obvious question: Where is the media when it comes to pointing out the history of The Squad’s political party of choice? Where is the media to explain that AOC’s playing the race card is, in fact, completely in line with the political culture of AOC’s Party of Race?
And in terms of Omar’s anti-Semitism, the irony is that this business of prominent Democrats hanging ten with anti-Semitism is in fact relatively new.
The media should be providing context here. It would do well to explain that when the State of Israel proclaimed itself a Jewish state in May of 1948, Democrat Harry S. Truman was President of the United States. And Truman wrote this in his memoirs, “Now that the Jews were ready to proclaim the State of Israel…I decided to move at once and give American recognition to the new nation.”
Truman did just that. And when he was re-nominated for president, the Democrat platform of 1948 specifically said this:
President Truman, by granting immediate recognition to Israel, led the world in extending friendship and welcome to a people who have long sought and justly deserve freedom and independence.
We pledge full recognition to the State of Israel. We affirm our pride that the United States under the leadership of President Truman played a leading role in the adoption of the resolution of November 29, 1947, by the United Nations General Assembly for the creation of a Jewish State.
Which is to say, right from the get-go Truman put the Democrats on the record in the strongest possible terms as supporting Israel and the Jews.
It’s a long way from Harry Truman to Ilhan Omar and The Squad. Where is the liberal media when it comes to educating Americans that the Democratic Party of staunch support for Jews and the Jewish state has now dissolved into a sewer of anti-Semitism?
The hard fact here is that the mainstream media is giving a pass to The Squad and its culture of racism, a culture that is the history of its Party of Race.
Not to mention that there is no attempt in the media to explain the descent of the Democrats from staunch support of Jews and Israel to the sewer of the venomous anti-Semitism spewing from The Squad.
Sad.
Not to mention dangerous.
